On both aircooled and watercooled I like exterior modifications to be of a more subtle OEM+ variety.  Suspensions on AirCooleds should be bagged, period.  On watercooleds I think they should all be equipped with either coilovers and set to a more auto-x appropriate height or have a nice subtle drop to eliminate wheel well gap w/o sacrificing ride.  As far as engine performance goes, sky is the limit.

aircooled - OEM +, lowering, full resto, OEM look rims

watercooled - tastefully extreme. I prefer project cars with a good theme all around.

Audis - I figure these fall into a different category - I prefer mostly performance and minor OEM +. Lower, rims, and minor body mods.

I prefer the OEM + with a nice set of wheels for the watercooled side

Aircooled, I kind of like the resto custom type deal. Stock looking body, nice wheels, possibly bigger engine, stock interior, with a nice lowering job.

I like oem stocklooking with upgraded suspension, brakes and engine stuff. Aftermarket wheels easy but I'd rather start with the road holding and power first.  Plus external mods can get noticed easily by the wife hahaha. :banghead:

If the doors dont spin and open up like a transformer Im not interested.  ;D

Seriously, aircooled- bag it, some chrome accent and a nice resto.

Watercooled- coil it, wheel it and keep it clean. Subtle bodykits or lips do it for me. Oh and debadge (ahem**mark*)

I like lambo doors, b pillar gauges, pink and neon green interior accents, chrome spinner wheels and gotta have the whistle tips.
For engine mods, just a 2.slow w/ a auto and a k&n filter for 40 hp.  Thats how I roll. ;D

I like my watercooled slammed on coilovers so that you can't hit a pebble with out something rubbing. :D  I need different offset rims so I can my MKIII lower.
