i got laid off the day i left for vacation.

apparently the budget was too tight to keep me around. oh well...

anyone know of some local job openings? i'm seriously considering going overseas as a civilian contractor unless i can find something within 25 miles that pays well.

i ran a battalion's worth of arms room when i was in the army so i'm looking for armorer jobs over in qatar or saudi or kuwait.

here is my quicky resume:

bachelor's degree - business administration
got half way through a mechanical engineering program
good with anything mechanical but not really looking for a wrenching job
combat engineer in the army so i'm good with explosives - ha
head of tech department at my last job
sales and customer service experience

i've got a full resume if anyone has a job lead.

same thing happened to me last week, except i was in california visiting my wife's grandmother who is in a coma. i found out when i called to tell my supervisor i would be late getting back because the tranny in the mk4 gave up on me. needless to say, i didn't rush back. i did have to rent a kia for a day.....

That sucks dude, welcome to the club. I've been work free for a month myself.

After seeing two uncles go through the whole oversea's civy contractor thing in Iraq I wouldn't do it. When tax season came around it really wasn't worth it for them. I'll check around for you though.

chris, afaik wages made outside of the u.s. are tax free but i could be wrong.

pat, northrop grumman is looking for armorers in kuwait, qatar, saudi, the u.a.e., kyrgyzstan, and ft irwin.

You might try to apply for an armory job on Peterson... I know the people who work there now are incompetant. You also could try working for Chenga Security on base. Its nothing exciting but money is money.

Up to $80k and then you get ass raped by the IRS. You also have to stay away for the majority of the year (You're allowed 30 days in the US I believe) or you pay taxes on all of it.

Actually, if you were to join the guard I'm pretty sure you could get a job as a fed tech at carson. They are currently looking for an arm repair specialist.

Do you have a clearance? I assume you've held a clearance before, but are you SCI eligible? Can you be a bit more specific on your technical background? I work at NG as well so I thought I'd throw in my offer for assistance as well.

unfortunately i don't currently have a clearance nor have i ever had one (never really needed one while i was in). my technical background is mostly mechanical. some electrical but not telecom or satcom. if you had something in mind shoot me a pm. thanks.
