new project
« on: March 04, 2008, 08:22:08 PM »

i just bought a new project. i was looking at it for the wheels but i ended up buying the whole thing for just a little more than what the wheels go for. its going to be a long term project that i'll start collecting pieces for and slowly build. i have enough to do on my mk2 to keep me busy anyway.

1987 944 white with black interior
white 15" phonedials which will go on the mk2
no drivetrain, but its a solid car with no accidents. the previous owner had it since 1990.

its not home yet, but i should be able to get it next week or so. sharp-eyed people will notice that i switched back to my old username since i have a 944 now. i had switched to 924 because i had an itch for one, but i couldn't pass this 944 up so...

your the 3rd person to say that! while it is tempting, i'm going to stick to porsche only. i'd like to get a 16 valve motor and turbo it but we'll see what i can afford.

Whenever I see a porsche 944/924 or 928 I always tell myself that's a nice project car to have. I Just saw a green '79 928 on the otherside of the street today and hurriedly made a U turn and inspected the car.
I love the à la Lamborghini Miura headlamps.

yea 928 are pretty cool looking. they always look exotic and don't look as dated as other cars from the 70's-80's. you should get one ;D

btw, the corrado is looking hot with those p-wheels!

I've always wanted a 928 ... I could only imagine that they are a maintenance nitemare if they haven't been maintained over the years

I love the 928s but I heard the same thing about it being a nitemare to work on.  I might know where a 944 turbo model is sitting that might be for sale. If you want I can check and see if it is?

I had a 928, and it was a creampuff. I only ever spent ~$150 on repairs (window problem) in three years.

i might be interested, but what i really need is a donor car to get the drivetrain out of.

It is all complete just looked like the person who bought can't afford it. So I will check and see what the deal is on it. I am one for the 350 conversion to because it seems a cheaper route all togethor including maintence.

when i parted out my last 944, i met someone that did the 350 swap on a 944. he used it one the grassroots challenges where the car had to cost less than the year. he enjoyed it but he also had a 944 turbo...

I could ALMOST understand a 350 swap in a 928 as it was a v8 originally, Not a 944.
