What is more disconcerting is that probably half of his "music" collection is godamn anime music... and happy hardcore.

I've got a fair amount, it's just not all in one place right now.  All together, I think I have in the range of 50GB of music covering most popular stuff.  No anime or happy hardcore that I'm aware of :P

I've got rock, rap, R&B, country, oldies, classic rock, etc.  I can burn a few CD's or DVD's if necessary, unless we plan to use an Ipod or the like.  Hell, even my 2GB Nano would be enough to supply 2 show days worth of music with no repeats.

It will be much better once I get it all in one place though, right now I only have about 15GB on my main computer.

awesome.  punk and hip hop that is never heard on the radio or seen on mtv is probably the best for a dub show.

I think we should go tejano this year, especially if we have the show by the Citadel! Just kiddin', anything but country and the crap they play on everyother radio station in CSprings. I have a big selection of 80's new wave, old school rap, and old school punk....I'll probably have my SlackerPortabl e there so the skies the limit on music.

I have 3 cds of music from these guys.  99% of people don't have a clue who they are.  Their lyrics are quite the funny...

http://www.last.fm/music/Pain/_/Fight

Bored, drinking my beer on the floor
Surrounded by people I mostly abhor, wanting more.
And so the night goes,
A lot of beer flows,
What can a guy do to make it right?
And then abruptly my pair of eyes see
A pair of guys get into a fight.

Funny how a fight can break the ice
And make the whole night better
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!

Fist fly, hits him in the eye
Knocks him on the ground, now he starts to cry.
I dont mean to be pompous or mean.
Try to love each other-
Thats the way it should be,
But dont you think that maybe every once in a while
A good fist fight makes everyone smile?

Funny how a fight can break the ice
And make the whole night better
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!

Blood, teeth, broken glass on the floor
But if the fights right the fighters just might
Decide to be friends and make amends
And as we get closer to the end,
Its time to sing the chorus once again.

Funny how a fight can break the ice
And make the whole night better
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!
Everybody loves to fight, FIGHT!

You could always just play rammstein over and over again...  ;D

I think a good mix of music --popular mix of rock, rap and electronic-- could please most people. Id avoid the gangsta' rap, but I hear Carlos is all over that shit.

I have almost 14gigs of music on my iTunes.  Mostly metal and punk but also some techno and celtic with a splash of country and rap.

Can we make sure there is some VooDoo Glow Skulls playing?  You can even announce that its my fault its being played.  Call it the DutchVDub musical hour. :)  Oh, how about some Mindless Self Indulgeance?

It'd be cool to get a local garage band to come play live. Provided they didn't suck.

Shit it don't matter what I want, it matters what the crowd wants. I'm sure even if they don't necessarlily like a specific genre of music they would still enjoy a good live band. As long as they realize they aren't getting paid for it. Maybe they could sell CD's if they have them, you'd have to talk to the board.

I'm off every Monday, so if that works for you I'm game.  Otherwise pretty much any weekend is fine as long as I don't have drill.

That would be totally awesome, lets go for it.  Will Me First and the Gimme Gimme's play?  ;D  Still, that is a great idea.  I'm sure any local band would be willing to do it as its a free gig and helps get their name out there.

a band would be cool but a few things come to mind:

noise restrictions (although we are running a dyno out there)
playing outside on an asphalt parking lot in the summer is going to suck!
choice of music

although this would never happen someone like me first could be cool because all they do is cover songs.  so it's punk that the youngin's will enjoy and old songs that the old fuckers will recognize.  so if we can find a punk band that will do cover songs all day i think we might be able to look into it more.

I definately see the reasoning behind not having a band, especially as we wouldn't want to drive people out because of music.  I know if some Mariachi (spl?) band was playing I would leave in a heart beat.  A lot of people probably feel the same about the music I listen too.  A band willing to do a bunch of Me First style covers would be sweet, but it could prove to be a bit challenging for a band to come up w/ hours of rewritten oldies in a matter of 2 months.

Now that is an idea! Having a acoustic Mariachi band just walking around the show playing what they play! Just like Casa Bonita, less the sopapias and honey.
