preliminary shot of new wh-eels
« on: January 01, 2008, 10:40:43 PM »

IForgery Senekas

i'm hoping to get them redone when i have some downtime in the next couple months. looking to get the centers back to a brushed aluminum color and repolish/refinish the lips. i'm on the fence about painting the bolts gold...i love gold, and would get the centers painted gold...if i had a white or black car.

I think most people that go this route have them plated

i stand corrected  :t-up:

can anybody help me out in terms of how much money i would be looking at spending to getting these redone?

taking apart the wheel, sandblasting the old paint off the face, repolishing the lips, plating the bolts gold, then putting them back together?

i think since the girlfriend is heading to the motherland for a month i'll spend that time taking apart the wheels and putting them back together. is gold plating bolts expensive work?

I forget the way they are assembled, if you take off the tire we can see if they are welded.

Nice wheels buddy :) they look great

i remember checking out my Jlines that were 2-piece, those had the nuts welded to the bolts, but these weren't welded or anything, so it looks like you can take the face apart from the barrel, but i guess i'll find out for sure after i get the tires unmounted...

thanks eric!

oh yea, i also looked up on vortex how much guys were paying to get the bolts plated gold...looks like $2 a bolt...with about 40 bolts a wheel...times 4 wheels...um... yea...that's looking to be quite a bit more money than i anticipated :(

I'm honestly not diggin gold on the wheels, i think what would look sick is if you could had them "painted" or coated gunmetal.

i saw some wheels on a blue A4 in pics on Vortex for H2O that were primered brown with plated chrome. Not saying it looked good but it was different and there was a MK2 that the lips of the rims painted the color of his Montana Green GTI. i just think there is alot of options out there if u look around.

no fucking way would gold anything look good in this situation.  i agree with your eugene on the gold face on black or white car but definitely not on a silver car.  also, gold bolts belong on smaller diameter (15"-17") bbs-style wheels that have big polished lips and not on a 19" multi-piece contemporary wheels.

btw i had my dtm kreuz wheels redone and it cost me $800 3 years ago.

I agree 100%

Unless it's a Subaru stay away from the gold, stick with what you got or get ready to paint your car.

Looks nice btw  :t-up:

you know, you got a valid point about larger wheels with gold bolts. i'm curious how it would look...i think it would be a nice, subtle mod that people would get caught off guard with.

all i really want is to be a little different from all the other fools out there. although i know the brushed aluminum face and polished lip is standard, but i thought gold bolts might be a good touch. we'll see how much money i have to work with...

i guess somebody beat me to the punch.

Tracer Tech 1's fully polished with gold bolts

i think i can get away with it, but seeing as how my car isn't super dumped or super aggressive styling wise, i might have to hold out on it...

Sorry, but those high polish wheels are just way way too "gangsta" for my taste.  A semi polished wheel might look decent.

gold plating sounds expensive, just get one of those gold paint markers, like $5 at office max
